The sauna is practically the Finnish national pastime, and the per capita quantity of steam saunas in the country is astounding to a lot of visitors from other nations. Take a chair – Upon entering the sauna, seasoned bathers usually have a seat in an upper seat in which the heat is most intense. It is perfectly acceptable, however, to pick a lower seat if you want a lower temperature.
Soak up the warmth – Once You are settled in, relax and let the warmth saturate your body. Take even, relaxed breaths because the pores of your skin open and the sweat starts to flow. If you wish to add some moisture to the atmosphere throw some water on the rocks, but bear in mind that the resulting steam will make the air in the sauna feel much hotter
The amount of time you spend in the sauna will depend on your tastes and best sauna experience. Those people who are new to bathing may spend five to ten minutes at a time while some that are more accustomed to sauna use may spend twenty to twenty five minutes at a time. If at any stage you feel weak, dizzy or nauseous you need to exit the sauna immediately.
Take a rest, rinse, and repeat – When you are ready for a break, step out of the sauna and cool down. Lots of people like to take another shower, drink some water, or refresh themselves in the relative cool of the dressing area. When you are ready for more warmth simply step back into the sauna. You can repeat these steps as many times as you like; seasoned bathers frequently make three, four, or even more excursions into the warmth before stepping out for the last time.
Shower and final cool – When you are finally done with your Finnish sauna, take another shower to wash off the sweat and let yourself cool down completely. You should be cool and dry before getting dressed, and should follow your sauna with fluids to re-hydrate yourself and possibly a meal if you are hungry.
